ENTRIES
Entries can be submitted to Keith Young, keithyoung@cincyrowing.org. The entry deadline is March 25th. When submitting entries, the goal is to allow coaches to get everyone a race, have fair racing, and allow as much doubling that does not slow down the speed of the regatta completion. Please submit what are your priority boatings. Describe if necessary the boatings if there are multiple entries so they can be seeded properly. For example, the category of Novice 4+ allows for many variances. If a program only enters one Novice 4+, that may be the top 4 athletes from the Novice 8 or it may be the bottom four athletes on the Novice squad who are not in the Novice 8. A program like ours might decide (if enough races exist) to enter Novice 4 A, Novice 4 B, and Novice 4 C. We could make three flights and make sure that say the Novice 4 Cs from all the programs (last 4 athletes) race each other for the sake of fairness. I will try to be as accommodating as possible. Again, make sure I can tell what are your rankings of priority boats of all your crews, and doubling, concerns, special needs, etc. Soon after March 25th I will send the first revision of the racing schedule and heat sheets.
Entry Fee: $50 – UC Rowing Club is not running this regatta as a money maker. Any entry fees will simply to go recoverexpenses. Based on the number teams attending, we are asking that each program bring a check for $50.00 made out the “University of Cincinnati Rowing Club”.
Tee Shirts: Simply for commemorative purposes only (again no money making), we are planning on producing a regatta tee. Our goal is to produce this so they can be purchased from between $10 to $15. Please inform Erica Roberts (ericaroberts@cincyrowing.org) of how many people connected to your program would be interested in purchasing a tee by March 25th.
Volunteers Needed: Due to the expanded number of teams and the desire to provide as fair and fluid regatta operations as possible, we are asking that each program provide two (2) volunteers for the day. The complete list of volunteers duties will come out soon, but there is a great deal to make sure that races happen on time, are safe, are fair, and are recorded properly. Since again this is not a money maker for us, we can keep expenses low by all of us pitching in together. Volunteers could be parents, alumni, extra coach, team managers, extra athletes, injured athletes, etc. Please send your volunteers to Erica Roberts (ericaroberts@cincyrowing.org) by March 25th. For each volunteer, please send their first and last names, program, race day cell phone number, and email address.
LAUNCHES / ENGINES / FUEL In order to keep the costs down, and allow coaches to use this early season regatta as a way to observe their crews up close, our plan is to have coaches run the races. I am hoping to have two coaches (one from each of two schools in that race) in a launch that will act as aligners and safety followers for that race. Also would be another launch that would have two other coaches (one from each of two additional schools in that race) that would act as starters and followers. Both launches would have coaches each running stop watches. Along with shore finish line operations (flag, finish order, and differential timing), the race will have a very accurate winner, order of finish, and finish timing. Thus we need each program to bring one launch, one reliable engine (preferably the one in your stable that has the lease nuances), and fuel for the day for that engine that will probably run the course 1 to 2 times per hour (i.e., based on desired 15’ centers for racing). Please let me (keithyoung@cincyrowing.org) know ASAP if this is an issue for your program. ALL COACHES NEED TO BRING TIMING STOP WATCHES WITH SPLIT / LAP TIMING.
